I had the opportunity to illustrate the fifth edition of Leonard Herman's Phoenix, a sprawling two-volume history of video games. The book is now available for preorder from Limited Run Games.

For this cover, it was fun to imagine what a "digital phoenix" might look like. There are so many versions of the legendary bird, it was fun to pick and choose different aspects. One of my favorite parts is the circuitry pattern for feathers. Check out this great circuitry pattern brush set from Actiondyne Industries.

The phoenix is surrounded by consoles, controllers and accessories from throughout history. Can you name them all?

Special thanks to Jeremy Parish, who asked me to work on this project.
